The STARMANS DIO 2000 Automated Ultrasonic Testing Device for Railway Axles is designed to manage ultrasonic inspection of railway axles. The system is fully automated. It can inspect solid axles and axles with borehole in both radial and axial directions. Inspection is done by pulse-echo ultrasonic method. Coupling is immersion or watergap. The greatest advantage of the system is that is capable to test axles regardless its geometry. Not needed to enter the drawings of axles before testing. The device has been designed to comply generally with international requirements of standards for railway axle testing as follows: ISO 5948 Railway track vehicles; EN 13261 Railway equipment: wheel sets and bogies, axles, requirements for production; E BN 918 275 – Axles for motor wagons; DB907.0101 Ultrasonic testing of new hollow axles of wheelset. Mechanics

The device is compact, durable and designed to run in four shifts. Testing axle will be fixed by apexes adjust according the size of axle. All parts, which are in contact with water,are from stainless steel. The testing bath is provided with spillway, equipment allows pumping over water to additional bath and back.

Control and Software

The system is controlled by PLC Siemens and operated by optipanel. In addition the device can interface with existing network of company. Software DIO 2000 is user-friendlyand easy to operate. Software for DIO 2000 has been developed for control, testing results displaying and has the following modes: settings, measuring, monitoring the data and calibration. The system has outputs for signalization(light/acoustic) and defects marking.

Records

The system enables to make analysis, statistics, and reports for further evaluation, large data basis and printing. Records can be arranged according to a customer´s special request.
